Wardens' report

5 January 2006

Hello again, hope this finds all our communities in good order following the Christmas and New Year festivities. Andrew and I are back in action following our break.

The first thing to mention is what a great success our Senior Citizen’s Christmas lunch proved to be. We were well looked after by the Golden Bay Restaurant in Ilfracombe, with lovely food and a visit from Santa himself.  Great fun was had by all with everyone in fine singing voice.

Now, however we need to get back to normality. On the whole it has been a relatively quiet time in the three communities but we have our initiatives to get off the ground. We are focused on getting street representatives and junior warden’s on board, so if anyone is interested, please contact us on Tel No: 01271 867131.

There are some untidy areas of Ilfracombe that need particular attention with regards to a clean up and these are being addressed. Dog fouling seems to have been a particular problem. So it would be a great start to the year if we could get the minority of people who perhaps aren’t as responsible as they could be, to take note and please clean up after their dog, thus making a cleaner and safer environment for us all.

In Combe Martin we know the residents are upset about the damage that occurred to the Christmas Tree at the entrance to Cormelles car park and the safety fencing surrounding it, we are informed that the police are dealing with this matter.

On a more positive note,  Andrew and I are looking forward to the year ahead. Now that we have been in post since August and have made some good links in all three communities, we are hoping to take these forward into 2006.
