Wardens' report25 November 2005 Andrew writes: We have had an interesting two weeks doing a lot of different things. During the week of the 14th 18th of November we were involved in the Road Safety week at both the Infant and Junior schools in Ilfracombe, where we worked together with the PCSOs, Traffic Wardens and Police. We put a short questionnaire to people on how they felt about the safety outside of school and asked them if they would be interested in alternative ways to get their children to school, such as a walking bus or a community bus. The response was very positive. We visited both the schools and talked to children in the school councils about how they felt about the issue, and got some really good feed back. We have also been busy on foot patrol in all all three areas and reported back to different service providers with problems we have come across, such as faulty street lights, broken pedestrian bollards, broken bins; even getting the post box at Bratton Fleming painted. These are just a few of the issues raised from an ever growing list! Despite a last minute change of venue we had a very successful coffee morning raising approximately £80 for Children in Need, with money still coming in. Finally, both Helen and I received our accreditation certificates for our warden training from the ODPM South West Regional Resource Centre. Also dont forget we are still looking for Junior Wardens and street Reps. See you soon. |
