It’s been another busy couple of weeks in Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Bratton Fleming. We have a new ‘Street Reps’ scheme starting up in the new year and I’ve been meeting groups to tell people about it. The idea is that every street has its own representative who’ll be the eyes and ears for the residents on the street. They’ll be able to report any problems with pavements, streetlights, graffiti, or drains (a recurrent theme in Combe Martin this week) direct to the agencies responsible so that they can be sorted out straight away. Some things Transform would be able to help with, for example if people on a street wanted to set up a residents’ group. The time commitment would not be too big but the benefits could be enormous. If anyone is interested, please call the Transform office on 01271 867131.

I’ve also spent a lot of time organising events for Children in Need next week: One is an event with SureStart, where all the children are being sponsored to wash a fire engine at Ilfracombe Fire Station on Thursday 17 November at 11am. I’ve also been organising a Coffee Morning for Children in Need at Combe Martin Village Hall on 15 November. Local businesses rallied round and have been really supportive, donating items to the raffle.
