Andrew writes:

We’ve had a busy time over the last two weeks: on foot patrol in Bratton Fleming, Combe Martin and Ilfracombe; sorting out a few incidents; and helping with the five “Try it!” arts taster workshops that Transform arranged during half term.

The arts workshops have gone down very well, and I’ve really enjoyed chatting to the young people and seeing all the things they’re getting out of them. In the Music Technology workshop in Ilfracombe all the kids made and took home their own CD, the kids in the puppet and masking making workshop got together and put on a show at the end of the day, and during the graffiti and mural workshop in Combe Martin they put together an art wall in the village hall.

We’ve also been meeting groups of young people and finding out what they like and dislike about living in the area. Nearly 30 turned up at the Kabin in Bratton Fleming at a group session on Tuesday 18 October! The amount of traffic and speeding were their biggest worries, and they’d like more to do in the village.

We met a group of older people at the Honeysuckle Club in Combe Martin, introduced ourselves and then stayed for the afternoon.

We’ve had a number of calls from residents all all kinds of issues from abandoned cars to overflowing bins. Of 16 incidents reported, we’ve already resolved 14 and two are pending.
