New training opportunity in Ilfracombe

Interested in working in a tourism/hospitality business but have no formal training or qualifications? Currently not in full-time work or education? If the answer to these two questions is yes, then the new Tourism and Hospitality Training scheme may well be for you.

The training
The programme offers on-the-job training at a hotel in Ilfracombe leading to an NVQ for successful trainees. The 11 week course will include core catering and hospitality skills, customer service, security and bar work as required. In addition there will time for individual learning to cover skills for life, food hygiene, IT qualifications, first aid and any other individual requirements. The programme runs from 9 January 2006 to Easter 2006, with trainees attending sessions for one day and one evening per week.

Getting a job
If a trainee is not already sponsored by a local business there will be opportunities for employers to meet and see trainees in action to assist recruitment.

Finance
If you are on means-tested benefits, then the course is free, essential equipment will be provided and help with childcare or travel costs may also be available. Further advice on how this affects your benefits is available.
